Although the tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the human body, it has small pits that can hold particles of food and drink due to its absorbent nature. To illustrate, Liebermann has conducted a study, where individuals who consumed over 200 mg of caffeine (approximately three cups of coffee) showed some increased agitation and anxiety. For this reason, coffee drinkers may suffer from some impairment in fine motor performance. Although the study confirms that low doses of caffeine have little effect on the mood state, this stimulant causes addiction, as it has already been mentioned. For this reason, 64% of U.S. residents, who report drinking at least one cup of coffee regularly, are likely to consume coffee in high doses. Furthermore, the Mayo Clinic claims that an intake of 400-500 mg of caffeine a day may trigger sleep deprivation, nervousness, irritability, restlessness, an upset stomach, and even muscle tremors. To repeat, coffee consumption in large doses may negatively impact human behavior, increasing a risk of anxiety disorders, mood swings, and insomnia.

Some people may support coffee drinking. They believe that this hot beverage facilitates learning process and helps lose weight.  Notwithstanding this fact, coffee consumption is especially harmful to kids and adolescents. For example, Steven Meredith, postdoctoral research fellow at The Hopkins University School of Medicine, suggests that coffee interferes with learning process among adolescents, inhibits normal neurological development peculiar to adulthood period, raises blood pressure, and causes sleep disorders. Is this what we want for our children? If not, then immediately discard this poisonous drink and never buy it again. Those who think that coffee helps reduce weight are right. However, most prefer to add sugar, whipped cream, syrup, and artificial sweeteners that have additional 100 calories. Moreover, sugars and creams make the blood sugar level fluctuate, which consequently increases appetite and cravings. Thus, do not wonder where the extra kilograms on the waist and hips come from. Every delicious portion of coffee with sugar and topping will turn into fat that you try so hard to burn in a gym.
